** SAVE THE DATE **
Date change for Gator Gamble Fundraiser
Saturday, March 2, 2019 is the new date for the super-huge, super-fun Gator Gamble Auction event. Due to some scheduling conflicts, we had to pick a new date for this mega night. It may seem like a long way off, but get it on your calendars now! One more totally tubular night to party 80’s style – it’s gonna be most excellent! Stay tuned over the next several months for much more information coming your way.

Pretty please – with a cherry on top?
We need a few more Ice Cream Scoopers!
The PTO is looking for some volunteers to help out at the Ice Cream Social on Friday evening, from 6-8 pm. Please help us to make this event a success by giving us a little bit of your time. Contact Jodi Doney if you can help at: jodidoney@hotmail.com. Thank you.

Book-It Calendars
It’s time to turn in completed October Book It calendars! In case you misplaced your copy, the October calendar is attached. The November Book It calendar is also attached for you to print at home and have your child log his or her reading in November. Join the Green School Club
DES Green School Club seeks new members. It’s never too late to join the Green School Club.  Membership form is attached. The club meets twice monthly on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 8:15 am. There is a meeting on Wednesday of this week.

Green School Club wants your help
DES Green School Club seeks volunteers to help with making PLARN. This is a super simple job that involves folding and cutting plastic bags into lengths that are then tied together to create plarn. We have had tremendous success with collecting plastic grocery bags (thank you!) and want to keep the momentum going. But, in order to do that, we need HELPERS. Instructions and demonstrations are available for kids and adults (some even find it therapeutic).  If you’d like to help out with turning plarn into sleeping mats, we could use some volunteers to crochet as well… again it’s super simple and instructions and demonstrations are available. If you are interested, contact Sheila Norman at desgreenschool@yahoo.com to find out more or volunteer.

Dining for Davidsonville fundraiser update
A big thank you to everyone who came out to support us at our recent Dining for Davidsonville event at The All American Steakhouse. We wanted to let you all know that the evening raised $462 for the DES PTO. What a success–thanks to all of you! Look for another Dining event in the spring.

Donations sought for school play
DES Play Production seeks Halloween costume contributions (or loans). Specifically, we are in need of Pirates, Star Wars (Rey, Luke Skywalker/Jedi, Wicket), mermaids, Capt. Hook, forest animals (raccoon, fox, skunk, squirrel, fawn), fairies, fur vests & hats, and Peter Pan.  If you have any items to donate or loan, please contact Sheila Norman at sheilamnorman@gmail.com.

Make plans now for American Education Week
DES welcomes parents to visit your students’ classrooms Monday, Nov. 12th to take part in activities and see how the school day runs. You should have received a notice in your student’s folders.
