The DES ISEC has concluded, if scientists/engineers wish to see the judges’ feedback, they can email mdhunt@aacps.org or gccollins@aacps.org
Judging forms for the expectation in each category of the science and engineering projects are located here. Note that due to project volume and level of volunteers, the interview process is not a portion of judging science projects.

Held in the Spring each year, the annual DES Innovators of Science & Engineering Challenge features students in Grades 3-5. Please click here for some answers to frequently asked questions.
The projects this year can be submitted digitally (see the template here), or presentations can be brought to school. Projects are judged by volunteer guest judges.
- Science projects must follow the scientific method and will be judged according to each step you take. Take a close look at the Science Research Project Evaluation Form so you will not miss any critical steps like data, graphs, etc. Your experiment should propose a question and test a hypothesis – it is not a model or demonstration. A great resource is www.sciencebuddies.org.

- Engineering projects must follow the engineering design process. The engineering design process is a series of steps to come up with a solution to a problem. Often this involves designing (and re-designing) a product to accomplish the task. Take a close look at the Engineering Project Evaluation Form so you will not miss any critical steps. A great resource is: www.eie.org/overview/engineering-design-process.
- Digital Project Presentations can be found here > Science Google Slides Presentation >>Engineering Google Slides Presentation. You will be prompted to create a copy that automatically saves to your google drive. Be sure to check the speaker notes on each slide to make sure you have fully completed each part of your science or engineering project!
